Application
1. Cuprous iodide (CuI) has a wide range of uses as catalysts for organic synthesis, resin modifiers, rain seeding agents, anodic ray tube covers, and sources of iodine in iodized salt.  In the presence of 1,2- or 1, 3-diamine ligands, cuprous iodide catalyzes the conversion of brominated arenes, brominated heterocyclic compounds, and vinyl  to the corresponding iodide.  The reaction is generally carried out in solvent, using sodium iodide as iodization reagent.  Aromatic iodides are generally more active than their corresponding chlorides and iodides, so cuprous iodides can catalyze a series of coupling reactions involving halogenated hydrocarbons, such as Heck reaction, ChemicalbookStille reaction, Suzuki reaction and Ullmann reaction.  The coupling reaction of 2-bromo-1-octene-3-ol with 1-nonylene in the presence of dichloride palladium (II), cuprous chloride and  yields 7-methylene 8-hexadecocarbon 6-ol.  2. Used as organic reaction catalyst, anode ray tube covering, also used as animal feed additives, etc. Cuprous iodide can also be used together with  iodide as an indicator to measure the temperature rise of mechanical bearings.  3. Used as a catalyst in many reactions involving Grignard's reagent, cuprous iodide is also used in dry Wiff rearrangement reactions.
